Monthly Archives: February 2012

Hi! For the past 3 days, I’ve gone to a youth conference in Rochester, NY called Youth Ablaze. It was so encouraging! The preaching was… phenomenal. There was singing like nobody’s business too. The main thing that I remember from this event was this:

God uses ordinary people to do His extraordinary work; David, Moses, Gideon, John, Paul, the little boy who gave up his lunch to help feed 5000 people… and so on! The list is long. If God could use those people hundreds of years ago, what makes you think that He can’t use you? “I’m just a high school student”, you say, “I’m just a housewife”, “I’m just a waiter.” Well, God loves you the same as He does a trillionaire and a felon; God is not a respecter of persons. God uses my father, a pastor, in magnificent ways. My dad would agree that he’s nothing special, he’s just a man who loves his family and likes fishing, but he allowed God to use him wherever he was needed. God moved our family to where we needed to be because we chose to devote our lives to serving God. That’s the key thing. If you want to serve and obey God, but you’re unwilling to change… stop. Just surrender your life to Jesus, even if you’ve already accepted His gift of salvation, and wholeheartedly live for Him. Follow His commandments. Like John 14:15 says, If ye love me, keep my commandments

God can use you where you are… but if you’re not where you’re supposed to be, let Him move you to where you need to be.

It’s that simple. Live for Him.

I am resolved no longer to linger, Charmed by the world’s delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler, These have allured my sight.

I will hasten to Him, Hasten so glad and free; Jesus, Greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

I am resolved to go to the Saviour, Leaving my sin and strife; He is the true One, He is the just One, He hath the words of life.

I will hasten to Him, Hasten so glad and free; Jesus, Greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

I am resolved to follow the Saviour, Faithful and true each day; Heed what He sayeth, do what He willeth, He is the living way.

I will hasten to Him, Hasten so glad and free; Jesus, Greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

I am resolved to enter the Kingdom, Leaving the paths of sin; Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, Still will I enter in.

I will hasten to Him, Hasten so glad and free; Jesus, Greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

I’ve been working on “Scarlett Marie” (now “In His Hands”) a lot lately. It was pretty much finished, but I didn’t think it had enough… meat, if you will. I’m making a few changes and removing unnecessary portions. It’s almost painful to press the delete button on things that I’ve worked so hard on, but I know that in the end, it’ll be better… smoother. I’ll post an excerpt from it soon. 🙂

I am educated at home (aka home schooled) and my family attends a group with other homeschooled families every other Thursday (tomorrow we’re meeting). There is a Public Speaking class that my mom’s friend teaches. We’re learning how to give passionate performances, so we’re memorizing parts of “Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”. In the section we’re working on now, I am Mrs. Macready. I’ve never been one to take pleasure in scolding people, so it’s kind of difficult for me. But it’s so much fun! Public speaking has always been my favorite class. Hopefully I won’t laugh too much when I’m saying my lines! I tend to laugh… a lot. 🙂

Short post, yes, but I’m practicing at posting at least 2 or 3 times a week. Adios! 🙂

Hello 2012… A little late

I feel sort of obligated to begin this post with an awesome announcement: My mom is going to have a baby! His name will be Samuel. He’s supposed to make his grand entrance on June 10th, but we’re thinking he’s gonna come a little sooner. And, something that is entirely of the Lord, my dad chose the name. But what’s funny is that he wouldn’t tell anyone which names he liked until we found out the gender of the baby… and I said that I loved the name Samuel before he told anyone! And a few hours after he told me and my mom which name he’d decided on, we went to dinner at a small restaurant and our waitress’s name was Sam! She was Samantha, but how awesome is that? Such an amazing experience. Can’t wait to meet my fourth brother… I already love him 🙂

So my family is going on a vacation for about a week and a half starting next  Monday. We’ll leave our Upstate NY home after breakfast and drive to D.C., stay there for 2 days, then drive to probably North Carolina. Not sure what we’ll spend our time doing, but I’m sure we’ll be busy! But I hope we have a few hours of down time to rejuvenate. It’s definitely needed! Anyway, I’m really excited about it. My brother, David, suggested going a little lighter on Christmas presents this past year so that we could save up for a family trip. So we’ll be leaving soon! We’re all very excited 😀

Something really cool happened on Saturday. I went to my uncle’s house and he apparently did not yet hear that I wrote a book. He thought that it was awesome and called his friend, Paul, who is a bookseller. The next day, my dad and Paul talked on the phone… and he wants to sell my book! This is really exciting. But… that means that I’ll have to finish editing everything by the end of March so he can have it on his table at a book show at the end of April! Please pray that I’ll be able to be efficient with my time so that I can get the finished product to Paul in “good condition”.

I’ll keep you all up to date… unlike I have been! This is the first post since, what, December? Sorry! I’ll write more often 🙂

God bless!
